The fact that prices are rising primarily for food products is a regularity.
Malvine Strazdina, an associate professor at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at LU, expressed concern about the structure of profitable enterprises in Latvia during a discussion on TV-24. "The most profitable enterprises we have are retail chains - RIMI and Maxima. There is nothing like this in Lithuania, Estonia, or Poland! Therefore, it is completely logical that prices, especially for food, are constantly rising here! Yes, salaries on average in the country also increased in the second quarter, but they still do not keep pace with the rising prices in stores," the expert concluded.
