On Wednesday, an extensive area of precipitation will arrive from the south in Latgale and Selija — snowfall is forecasted, reports LETA.
The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre (LEGMC) has issued a yellow warning for heavy snowfall in the southeastern part of the country — the snow cover will increase by 5–9 centimeters overnight into Thursday.
In the rest of the country, Wednesday will be precipitation-free, with the sunniest weather expected in the northwestern regions.
With a light to moderate eastern and northeastern wind, the maximum air temperature will range from -2 to +3 degrees.
In Riga, the sun will peek through the clouds, no precipitation is expected, and there will be a light eastern and northeastern wind. The air temperature will be around zero degrees.
The weather is influenced by a high-pressure area, while a cyclone is located south of Latvia.
