A comprehensive program is planned to be implemented in educational institutions to promote the formation of physical activity habits among students in grades 1-4, including children with functional disorders, according to a presentation submitted by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control for consideration by the parliamentary subcommittee on sports under the committee on education, culture, and science.
The initiative is based on a multi-component approach that involves analyzing individual and social factors, environmental conditions, and children's lifestyles.
The program includes activities such as morning exercises, dynamic breaks, active recesses, and extended groups, which will be adapted to the capabilities of each educational institution. It is planned that the activities will be of moderate or high intensity, aimed at developing endurance, strength, coordination, and balance, as well as fostering cooperation among children and motivating them to participate regularly.
Classes will be held indoors and outdoors using the existing infrastructure and resources of local governments, such as playgrounds, outdoor exercise equipment, bike paths, and walking trails.
The comprehensive approach also includes assessing the capabilities of educational institutions, developing individual physical activity programs, preparing curricula, and training staff. Video materials for dynamic breaks will also be developed, and competitions and other events promoting children's physical activity will be organized.
It is planned that at least 1,100 first-graders from 65 classes will participate in the program, but the actual number of students will depend on the size of the schools.
The comprehensive physical activity program for primary school students is planned to be implemented by December 31, 2028, as part of the project "Plus" co-financed by the European Social Fund. The maximum funding for the implementation of the program will be up to 726,000 euros, and the final amount will be known after a preliminary market study and procurement procedures.
