Coming Soon: Meteorologists Report When Latvia Will Be Buried in Snow

Tomorrow will be cold and clear. Then clouds will move in from the East, bringing heavy snowfall, Latvian meteorologists report.

On Thursday, November 27, a prolonged snowfall is expected in the central and eastern regions of Latvia, with snow cover increasing by 5–9 cm in some areas.

In addition, the roads will be slippery, and drivers must be extremely cautious. Especially considering that according to Latvian laws, until November 30, drivers are allowed to use summer tires.

On Thursday, a weak to moderate north wind will blow, gradually shifting to the southwest and south by midday. At night, the minimum air temperature will be +1…–4°, during the day –2…+2°, and it will be slightly warmer on the coast, where the thermometer will remain a few degrees above 0°.

At the end of the week, frost will persist in many places during the dark hours, while during the day it will be colder mainly in the eastern part of the country. In the west and coastal areas, temperatures will more frequently rise above 0°.

The intensity of precipitation will decrease; however, the wind will strengthen — near the coast, it will become gusty, reaching up to 16 m/s. At the beginning of next week, the weather is expected to be predominantly dry, with air temperatures similar to those of the weekend.
