This week and next week, the air temperature in Latvia is not expected to rise significantly, with rain and snow forecasted in some areas, meteorologists report.
According to data from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre (LEGMC), the average daily air temperature across the country remains above zero; however, at the observation stations in Alūksne, Gulbene, and Zosēni, it has been negative since November 15. If the average temperature remains below zero on Wednesday — the fifth consecutive day — meteorological winter will begin at these stations.
In the second half of this week, the amount of precipitation will decrease, with rain and snow expected in some areas, and the sky will occasionally clear. Over the weekend, with light winds and cloud dispersal, nighttime temperatures in some areas will drop below -5 degrees, while daytime temperatures in most regions of the country will not exceed +4 degrees.
Next week, the air temperature is not expected to change significantly. Periodic precipitation is anticipated, with rain, snow, and possibly freezing rain.
According to current forecasts, weak or moderate frost may set in at the beginning of December.
