The Campaign for Collecting Autumn Leaves Has Started in Riga

From today until November 30, residents of Riga can submit autumn leaves for free at 34 points located in different districts of the capital, the LETA agency was informed by the Riga City Council.

The leaf collection points will mainly operate on Saturdays and Sundays, but some will also be open on weekdays. A list of the points can be found on the Riga City Council website.

The municipality reminds that it is not allowed to bring and leave leaves at the points outside their operating hours, and it is also prohibited to submit leaves in bags - they must be emptied into containers or special garbage trucks. There should be no other waste in the leaves, and after submission, each resident must take their bags with them.

The work at the leaf collection points will be coordinated by employees of the Department of Environment and Mobility of the Riga Municipality. They will organize the leaf collection process, monitor the operation of specialized transport, and assist residents whenever possible, especially elderly people.

In 2024, residents of Riga submitted 3,301 tons of leaves at the points, while in 2023, they submitted 2,769 tons.
