The average air temperature in Latvia during the first decade of October was +8.5 degrees, which is four-tenths of a degree below normal, according to summarized data from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre (LEGMC), reports LETA.

The lowest temperature was recorded on October 2 in Zosēni — minus 1.8 degrees, while the highest was +16.7 degrees on October 7 at the meteorological stations in Jelgava and Stende.

The average precipitation across the country was 14.2 millimeters, or 58% of the norm. On the western coast of Kurzeme, there was more rain than usual for October, while in the rest of Latvia, there was significantly less.

The highest amount of precipitation for the first decade of the month was recorded in Liepāja — 45.4 millimeters, while the lowest was in Zosēni, where only 3.8 millimeters fell.

The dryness and humidity index for the last month was the lowest in the Alūksne municipality, while for the three-month period, it was in the Jēkabpils municipality. The highest readings were recorded in Liepāja for one month and in the Balvi municipality for three months.

The average relative humidity was 86% — ranging from 82% in Riga to 89% in Daugavpils. The strongest wind gusts — 18.6 meters per second — were recorded on October 4 in Kolka.
