Relatives of Hayden Panettiere supported her ex-fiancé Vladimir Klitschko, who turned to the court requesting legal authority to protect the property of their 11-year-old daughter Kaia, inherited after her mother's death.
According to TMZ, citing sources close to the actress's family, Panettiere's relatives are grateful to Klitschko for the legal steps taken. They described him as a "wonderful father" and characterized the appeal to the California court as a necessary legal formality.
It Concerns the Daughter's Inheritance
The petition was filed about six weeks after Panettiere's death on August 16. According to the data provided in the publication from authorities, the cause of the actress's death was an accidental overdose, including fentanyl.
Klitschko is seeking the right to act as the guardian of Kaia's estate. In court documents, he stated that although the girl is not a resident of California, the local court has the appropriate jurisdiction since Kaia is the heir to her mother's assets, which are undergoing probate in this state.
Klitschko obtained full legal custody of his daughter in 2018 when Panettiere was struggling with postpartum depression. Currently, as stated in the original publication, father and daughter live in Ukraine.
Why Klitschko Called the Situation Urgent
In the documents, the boxer also expressed concerns for the safety of the actress's property following her death.
According to him, Panettiere had hired a security company while she was alive, which changed the locks in her home due to "documented concerns" that an unauthorized person had gained access to the property. Klitschko did not specify who this individual was.
Additionally, for safety reasons, containers with the actress's designer clothing and accessories used for public appearances were relocated.
Part of Panettiere's property was seized by law enforcement as part of an investigation after her death. However, according to the court documents provided, no one has been appointed to oversee and account for all these items.
This is why Klitschko called his appointment as guardian of his daughter's estate "an urgent and extremely important step." This should provide him with the legal authority to preserve Panettiere's assets in the interest of Kaia.
Thus, this is not about a dispute between Klitschko and Panettiere's relatives over the inheritance. On the contrary, according to TMZ, the late actress's family supports his actions and believes they are aimed at protecting the property that should go to their shared daughter.
