75-year-old Phil Collins candidly spoke about the consequences of his long battle with alcohol addiction. According to the former lead singer and drummer of Genesis, he experienced a severe medical crisis in 2024, during which doctors seriously doubted whether they could save his life.
The musician admitted that after a relapse of alcoholism, he developed multiple organ failure. He spent nearly seven months in the hospital, and his condition was so severe that relatives invited his children to say goodbye to their father, reports Entrevue.
"People came to say goodbye to me. But I don’t remember that. I had no idea what was happening. Everyone thought I had very little time left. Doctors even had to decide whether to continue to support my life. I am incredibly lucky to have survived," Collins said.
The artist confessed that his addiction developed gradually and intensified especially after difficult personal experiences. He stated that at one point he would start his day with wine, unable to imagine life without alcohol. Now, the musician claims he has completely given up drinking.
In recent years, Phil Collins' health has seriously deteriorated. In addition to the consequences of alcohol addiction, he suffers from neurological disorders and experiences significant difficulties with mobility, which forced him to end his concert activities. The musician is currently undergoing rehabilitation and lives with constant assistance from a caregiver.
