Professor Munoz: Stress makes relaxation before sleep difficult.

Professor Alfredo Rodriguez Munoz stated that the quality of nighttime rest has significantly deteriorated for people in the modern world. In an interview with Hola, he revealed the main enemy of sound sleep.

"Stress is perhaps the main enemy of modern sleep. It keeps the body in a state of heightened alertness, increasing cortisol levels, speeding up thought processes, and making relaxation difficult," Munoz explained. According to him, as a result, a person falls into a vicious cycle: stress worsens sleep, and poor sleep makes the body more vulnerable to stress.

As the specialist added, one must prepare for nighttime rest throughout the day, although many people believe they can simply fall asleep. "The body needs to receive the right signals during the day. If we go to bed feeling overstimulated and with anxious thoughts, we are unlikely to be able to fall asleep," he concluded.
