Sleep specialist: to be healthy, one needs to sleep an average of seven hours.
A sleep doctor revealed how much sleep a person needs each day. "Data from numerous studies show that, on average, a person needs to sleep seven hours to be healthy," the specialist stated.
At the same time, the doctor noted that this number can vary depending on individual characteristics. According to the sleep specialist, "short sleepers" may need only four to five hours of sleep, while "long sleepers" may require nine hours or more.
The medical professional added that it is possible to determine whether a person has had enough sleep based on several simple criteria. She assured that if a person transitions into wakefulness within 20-30 minutes after waking up and functions well throughout the day, then they have had sufficient sleep.
Earlier, the sleep doctor warned Russians about the consequences of chronic sleep deprivation. According to him, a lack of nighttime rest increases the risk of developing diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.
