Sleep Specialist Magomedova: Series in the Evenings Worsen Sleep Quality.

The use of gadgets and watching series in the evenings worsen sleep quality, said sleep doctor Karima Magomedova.

Magomedova explained that the blue light from gadgets suppresses the production of the hormone melatonin. Additionally, scrolling through social media feeds and watching series causes emotional and cognitive arousal. According to the sleep specialist, this makes it harder for a person to fall asleep, and sleep becomes fragmented.

To improve sleep quality, the doctor recommended avoiding a saturated information flow before bedtime. She specified that this includes not only refraining from series and smartphones but also avoiding excessive communication.
