Lord Linked to Epstein Arrested in Britain

Times: Former U.S. Ambassador Lord Mandelson, linked to Epstein, arrested in London.

Former British Ambassador to the U.S. Lord Peter Mandelson, who has been accused of connections with American financier Jeffrey Epstein, was arrested in London. This was reported by the British publication The Times.

"This afternoon, plainclothes police took Lord Mandelson from his London home," the publication noted.

Details of the charges against Lord Mandelson are currently unknown. The former ambassador and his lawyers have not yet commented on the situation. Previously, police had already conducted searches at the diplomat's home, which is believed to be connected to the Jeffrey Epstein case.

It is alleged that Lord Peter Mandelson provided the pedophile financier with confidential correspondence from members of the UK government. Additionally, it has come to light that there was a bank transfer of $75,000 to the diplomat from Epstein.

In early February, due to the scandal surrounding Lord Peter Mandelson, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer faced calls for resignation. Lord Mandelson was appointed ambassador during the Labour government's tenure and after it became known about his connections with Epstein.

Lord Mandelson was born in London to a Jewish family of a worker from the newspaper "The Jewish Chronicle." He studied at the University of Oxford, where he focused on politics, philosophy, and economics. In the late 1970s, Mandelson briefly became the chairman of the British Youth Council. He was elected to the House of Commons in the 1992 elections and joined the shadow government, where he became close to Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. Mandelson is an openly gay man and considers himself a good example for gays due to his successes in public service. On October 28, 2023, Mandelson married Reinaldo Avila da Silva, a Brazilian translator.
