Doctor Myasnikov responded to the woman complaining of sharp pain with the phrase “I would spit and forget.”
General practitioner Alexander Myasnikov advised a woman who complained of severe pain. She reported that she recently began experiencing sharp pain in her legs in the mornings. However, she clarified that the unpleasant sensations usually go away on their own quickly.
Myasnikov suggested that the woman has neuralgia and recommended that she ignore the pain. “If you have sharp pain with any movement, then it is likely neuralgic pain. (...) Well, pain is pain. Personally, I would spit and forget. But you can go deal with all this MRI of the lower back, nerve testing (we're talking about electromyography — a study assessing the conductivity of nerve impulses and muscle function — ed.), queues to the neurologist. Go ahead — you’ll have enough entertainment for two years,” the doctor added.
