Его отец — Юрий Аронович Хабенский (1946—2004), еврей, был инженером-гидрологом; мать — Татьяна Геннадьевна Хабенская, работала учительницей математики в школе.

The chief director of the prestigious theater has not yet made it onto any sanctions list.

After taking over the A.P. Chekhov Moscow Art Theater, Konstantin Khabensky was forced to pause his brilliant film career. However, not long ago, the artist returned to the screen – the series "Method" and the feature film "Aviator" were released. As usual, public interest in the talented artist remains high, and the same goes for the personal life of the actor who plays Meglin.

Konstantin Khabensky experienced a terrible tragedy – the death of his first wife, Anastasia Smirnova. The young woman passed away in 2008 after a long battle with glioblastoma. The couple had been together for several years and had a son, Ivan, but the illness proved too strong. In memory of his beloved, Khabensky established a charitable foundation, continuing to help children with brain cancer and immersing himself in work to cope with his loss.

Five years later, in 2013, a new love appeared in the actor's life – his colleague from the A.P. Chekhov Moscow Art Theater, actress Olga Litvinova. Initially, they were connected by friendship: the blonde was by Khabensky's side during a difficult period. Over time, these feelings grew into love, and the couple secretly registered their marriage among their closest friends. In 2016, the couple welcomed their daughter Alexandra, and in 2019, their youngest daughter Vera was born.

Meanwhile, Khabensky's eldest son Ivan from Anastasia Smirnova lived with his grandmother in Spain for several years but later moved to Moscow – his father bought him an apartment. Despite his busy schedule, Khabensky tries to raise his children, instilling kindness and human values in them.

In a recent interview, the Artistic Director of the A.P. Chekhov Moscow Art Theater shared unexpected details (Khabensky rarely speaks about his heirs). After returning to Russia, Ivan enrolled in the producer's faculty at the Shchukin School, and now all his thoughts are somehow connected to the theater.

"The most important thing is that this theatrical (in a good sense) obsession does not become a very strong poison. I try to tell him: 'Please, set some dosage for yourself.' Because there were times when he watched so many performances in different theaters and cities in a year that it sometimes raises concerns. If I were a doctor monitoring the condition of theater fanatics, I would be worried. But it seems that the young body digests everything. He enjoys it," reflects the caring father.

As for his little daughters with Olga Litvinova, the artist admitted that 9-year-old Sasha and 6-year-old Vera spend their days on the ice rink. Who knows, perhaps two talented figure skaters are growing up in the acting family?

"I watch them spin pirouettes. I rarely make it to the rink; I mostly watch through broadcasts... The most important thing is that they enjoy it because sometimes parents project their desires onto their children, and then the child turns into a character from the series 'Method,'" concluded Khabensky.

During the presidential elections in 2012, the actor was part of the public council of candidate Mikhail Prokhorov. He signed open letters in support of Svetlana Bakhmina and Vladimir Neklyaev.

In June 2019, at the opening of the Kinotavr festival, he spoke in support of the arrested journalist Ivan Golunov.

In March 2022, after the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, he stated the following:

"In today's circumstances, when people die every day, it is very difficult for me and many of my colleagues, psychologically difficult, to go on stage and do our work, but we will continue to do our job. Because the theater is a place where we talk about a person, about the life of the human spirit, about the values of human life."

Anatoly Bely told that before emigrating, his friend and colleague Khabensky promised him:

"Tolya, know that the doors of this theater are always open for you; if anything changes, this theater will always welcome you."

Later, he canceled several planned productions at the Moscow Art Theater, arguing that "it is humanly wrong to take material for the stage of a dramatic theater that would somehow ironize, joke, or have its interpretation on topics related to any military actions and the human tragedies associated with them," as "the special military operation continues," "almost every day people die," "guys fulfilling their professional duty," "just peaceful people."

As the director of the A.P. Chekhov Moscow Art Theater, he removed from the theater's plans the premieres of those who did not support Russia in the war, and in the remaining performances, the names of directors Dmitry Krymov, Kirill Serebrennikov, and Alexander Molochnikov were removed.

He was a federal speaker for the lesson "Conversations about Important Things" on the topic "Volunteers of Russia" on December 5, 2022.

In January 2023, he fired People's Artist of Russia Dmitry Nazarov and his wife, Olga Vasilieva, from the theater due to Dmitry Nazarov's anti-war position.
