French footballer Vergos died in Thailand while trying to take a selfie.
French footballer Alexis Vergos died in Thailand after falling from a height while taking a selfie at a waterfall. This was reported by the radio station RTL.
The incident occurred on January 5 on the island of Koh Samui, where the 22-year-old athlete was vacationing with his fiancée. Vergos slipped on slippery rocks and fell into the water, hitting his head on the stones. According to the examination, he died on the spot from the injuries sustained. Rescuers retrieved the body from the crevice despite the strong current. The footballer's girlfriend managed to survive by grabbing onto a tree branch.
The French club "Kemper Erge Armel," where Vergos was a trainee, confirmed the player's death and expressed condolences to his father and coach Thierry Vergos, as well as other family members. Two seasons ago, the player was part of the club's senior team.
