The doctor named the period between 9:30 and 11:30 the best time for coffee.

Gastroenterologist, PhD Evgeny Belousov urged Russians not to drink coffee immediately after waking up.

The doctor explained that from six to nine in the morning, the level of the hormone cortisol, which is responsible for wakefulness and the body's natural mobilization, reaches its daily peak. Therefore, a person will hardly feel more awake if they drink coffee during this time. Moreover, regular consumption of coffee during these hours may decrease sensitivity to caffeine, which means a person will need more of the drink to achieve the stimulating effect, the doctor warned.

"The optimal time for the first cup of coffee is considered to be between 9:30 and 11:30 in the morning, when cortisol levels naturally decrease. At this moment, caffeine most effectively supports concentration and performance without interfering with the physiological rhythms of cortisol," the doctor said.

The doctor added that in some cases, drinking coffee on an empty stomach can even be dangerous. He explained that this drink stimulates the production of gastric juice and can exacerbate the symptoms of gastritis, gastroesophageal reflux disease, or peptic ulcer disease. The doctor specified that it is recommended to drink coffee 30-60 minutes after a meal.
