Evgeny Yuryevich does not hide that he deeply regrets not being able to become a grandfather.
People's Artist of Russia Evgeny Steblov has never hidden that it was difficult for him to come to terms with the choice of his only son. Sergey Steblov planned to follow in his father's footsteps. He even managed to graduate from a theater school, debut in film, and try his hand at directing. However, he unexpectedly went to a monastery.
Evgeny Steblov made a poignant confession about his grandchildren. According to the actor, he asked his son to first give him grandchildren and then dedicate himself to worship. But Sergey decided to do it his way and simply left for an Orthodox monastery.
"I would like you to give me grandchildren, continuing our lineage. And then, if you want to go to a monastery, go ahead. But he did it his way..." Steblov is quoted by NEWS.ru.
Evgeny Yuryevich does not hide that he deeply regrets not being able to become a grandfather, but he holds no resentment towards his son. The actor learned that his son had gone to a monastery from his classmate. It was he who told Steblov about the letter that his heir had left for him. It turned out that Sergey had long understood that he should serve God, but he did not dare to become a monk while his mother was alive, fearing that she would not survive such a decision.
Now Evgeny Steblov has fully come to terms with his son's decision. He has mentioned that Sergey is now Father Photiy, about whom he hears only good things. Only the absence of grandchildren sometimes troubles the artist: "Of course, I would like to have grandchildren. But, alas."
Evgeny Steblov is beloved by audiences for films such as "I Walk Through Moscow," "Literature Lesson," and "For Family Reasons." The actor is still acting and performing in theater. Besides his professional success, he is also happy in his personal life.
Evgeny's first wife was far from the theater world and chose a career as a financier. The actor lived with Tatyana Osipova for 38 years. "I had women, I had relationships, but I didn’t love anyone before her. We lived very well together. Soul to soul," he said. They were separated by death. After several heart attacks, shortly before the actor's 65th birthday, the woman passed away.
Evgeny Yuryevich recalled that even on her deathbed, Tatyana cared for him. "A month and a half before she left, she told me: 'You should get married.' We understood that her days were numbered. I replied that I would marry, but I didn’t want to talk about it," Steblov recounted.
He married for the second time a year after Tatyana's funeral. His chosen one was Lyubov Glebova.
"I realized that I did not want to and could not remain a 'bachelor.' I got married for the second time. My wife is a financier by profession," Moslenta quotes him.
