Radiologist Rosa Maria Silveira Sigrist from the University of São Paulo in Brazil has revealed an unexpected danger of fillers. The relevant material is published by the New York Post (NYP).
According to the doctor, the area of the nose is particularly challenging for injections, as blood vessels connect with the main facial arteries and arteries leading to the eye. For this reason, if something goes wrong after the procedure, fillers can lead to stroke or blindness.
The doctor emphasized that dermal fillers, such as hyaluronic acid, block blood flow in the arteries, resulting in vascular occlusion. "Vascular occlusions on the face can have catastrophic consequences, as if not treated properly, they can cause necrosis and even facial deformity," she warned.
