The lead actor in the Indian film 'Zita and Gita' has died

Indian actor Dharmendra (full name – Dharmendra Keval Krishan Deol) has died at the age of 89, reports Variety.

The actor is referred to as a star of Indian cinema, having acted in films for over sixty years. Dharmendra has appeared in more than 250 films, including well-known films in the USSR such as 'Zita and Gita', 'My Favorite Raja', 'Revenge and Law', and others.

According to the publication, Dharmendra was hospitalized in Mumbai a few weeks ago due to breathing problems, but he was later discharged.

The future actor was born in the Indian state of Punjab in December 1935. His screen debut took place in 1960 in the film 'Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere', and he gained widespread fame after starring in the film 'Flowers and Stones'.

The actor also founded his production company Vijayta Films, which produced the box office hit 'Betaab' in 1983.
