Doctor: effective teeth cleaning starts with proper brush handling.

Hygienist Inna Grishina reminded that teeth should be brushed at least twice a day — in the morning and in the evening. According to her, effective teeth cleaning starts with proper brush handling. To achieve the desired result, it should be held at a 45-degree angle to the gum line: this angle makes it easier to remove soft deposits from under the edge of the gums.

"In tooth cleaning, it’s not the intensity and force that matter, but the correct movements of the brush. When it comes to the inner and outer surfaces of the teeth, move gently in a circular motion, as if you are trying to 'sweep' away the accumulated debris. Those with weak gums that are prone to bleeding should be especially delicate," the doctor added.

The chewing surface — the part of the tooth opposite the opposing row — should be cleaned by moving the brush back and forth, the doctor clarified. She also emphasized the importance of not forgetting to clean the tongue, as plaque always forms on its surface, which can be a source of bad breath.

In addition to a toothbrush, Grishina recommended using special floss. "Wrap about 50 centimeters of floss around your index fingers and gently slide it between your teeth, moving up and down. Interdental brushes and an irrigator can also help ensure maximum cleanliness of the oral cavity," she noted.
