Psychologist: the fascination with toys among modern adults is a form of self-help.

Psychologist Elena Shidlovskaya explained the attraction of many adults to children's toys. According to the expert, the fascination with toys in adulthood is not a sign of infantilism. More often, it is a form of self-help and a way to reconnect with one's inner child. In this case, buying a toy is not a whim, but an attempt to give oneself something that was once lacking, a kind of symbol of a fulfilled childhood dream. It is a compensation in the psyche, which is why many adults buy children's toys for themselves.

This is particularly characteristic of those who grew up in an era of scarcity — children of the 1960s to 1980s, notes the psychologist. "Toys were rare and valuable back then: they were cherished, teddy bears were sewn up, and toy cars were repaired. Therefore, people of this generation often reclaim the pleasant feeling of owning a toy through collecting," the specialist explained.

Moreover, collecting toys can also be a source of resources — it develops patience, attention to detail, taste, helps cope with stress, and makes a person a more sensitive parent.
