A year ago, supermodel Bianca Balti was diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer. In January, the beauty underwent her first chemotherapy and is still continuing her battle with the illness. Due to aggressive treatment, Bianca has lost her luxurious hair.
She no longer "embodies the ideal of beauty," and therefore lost her job. Balti is no longer needed by the industry.
"When I got cancer, understandably, everyone became reluctant to approach me about work. Besides sending me flowers and warm cards, brands stopped seeing me as a person capable of representing them," the model complained earlier.
Bianca Balti is trying to make a comeback, but so far brands refuse to collaborate with her. The latest Victoria’s Secret show took place without Bianca this time. On social media, the supermodel announced that she wrote a letter to the company asking to be returned to the runway. As Balti clarified, she sent the message to everyone whose contacts she could find in open sources. The famous lingerie brand, which just yesterday talked a lot about inclusivity, rejected the model's application, citing that the lineup of participants had already been approved.
Balti published excerpts from her message to Victoria’s Secret. The supermodel wrote lines that truly touch the soul.
"I’m not the youngest, not the curviest, and not the fittest. But I am strong, brave, and alive — and I’m still damn sexy. I proudly wear my scars and shake my recently grown hair. My appearance on the runway would not just be the embodiment of a personal dream, it would serve as a signal to millions of women: ‘Life goes on despite hardships. You haven’t become less feminine. You are whole. You are sexy. You cannot be stopped.’"
