Chicken broth can indeed be beneficial in treating a cold, said therapist Anna Hakimova.

"The most beneficial broth will be made from a whole chicken that has lived a free-range life. Its muscles contain a significant amount of carnosine," the doctor noted. She explained that carnosine is a substance that suppresses inflammatory processes in the body.

To gain more benefits from the broth, she also recommended adding vegetables to it, such as carrots, onions, celery, and peppers. According to Hakimova, these products contain antioxidants and prebiotics, which help maintain gut microflora during a cold.

Speaking about the properties of the broth, the doctor added that it also helps combat dehydration. Additionally, the dish contains many substances that support the immune system and help thin mucus.

"The steam from hot broth can help reduce nasal congestion, and warm drinks can alleviate sore throat pain," Hakimova added.
