In Riga, at the Daugava Gallery, an exhibition by the renowned Latvian artist Maija Tabaka has opened. The exhibition showcases different stages of her work — from famous theatrical and fantasy pieces to new floral canvases.
The work of Maija Tabaka is often compared to the films of Federico Fellini — in her paintings, reality intertwines with dreams, memories, and fiction. However, the artist has always emphasized that for her, painting is not cinema or theater, but a reflection of personal emotions, experiences, and her inner world.
A special place at the exhibition will be occupied by new works featuring flowers — roses, tulips, and irises. After a difficult period related to caring for her husband, Maija Tabaka almost stopped painting. However, after receiving the Purvitis Prize for her contribution to art, she returned to the easel and today paints again every day.
The organizers note that interest in the artist's work has remained enormous for several decades. Her exhibitions still attract large numbers of visitors, and new paintings generate interest from both collectors and the general public.
In the opinion of the editorial team, this exhibition will become one of the brightest cultural events of the season and a symbol of the inspiring return of the artist to creativity.
The exhibition will run until June 27.
