The Nature Conservation Agency (DAP) has announced an open competition with a budget of €180,000 for monitoring brown bears in Latvia from 2026 to 2028. Relevant information has been published in the electronic public procurement system, reports the LETA agency.
The contractor must have experience in organizing and coordinating field studies in areas inhabited by large predators. In particular, the contractor is expected to have experience in organizing the collection of biological samples, processing data from various sources, and verifying the quality of observation results.
Organizations with at least three years of experience in accounting for natural objects, data analysis, and assessing the status of mammal populations (excluding bats) or large predators in the Baltic and Northern European countries are eligible to participate in the competition.
The monitoring of the bear population from 2023 to 2025 was conducted by researchers from the Latvian State Forest Research Institute Silava.
