What You Need to Know About Marigolds: Their Benefits for Greenhouses and Gardens

Skilled gardeners, scattering marigold seeds in the beds, solve several tasks at once.

According to experienced gardeners, the bright aroma of marigolds can repel many pests, such as aphids, wireworms, and Colorado beetles.

Additionally, marigolds help eliminate fungal spores present in both the air and the soil.

For this reason, they are often planted around the perimeter of areas where cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplants, or strawberries are grown.

The proximity of marigolds to bulbous perennials, such as irises, tulips, or lilies, also brings benefits.

This method should be used not only to create a beautiful floral composition but also to disinfect the soil, preventing the occurrence of fusarium in plants.

Moreover, flowers planted in the root zones of fruit trees and berry bushes will help eliminate nematodes.

For effective soil disinfection, marigolds should grow for at least 3.5 months. After that, the tops of the plants should be cut off with pruning shears and buried in the soil, while the roots should not be disturbed.
