Thuja is not only a beautiful tree but also an important element of landscape design that can serve as a natural barrier.
However, sometimes the thuja may start to dry out, and many gardeners believe that the tree needs to be removed, as the chances of saving it are slim.
But this is not the case.
There is a simple method that can help restore the thuja's health. What needs to be done?
Remove Damaged Parts
If the needles have turned yellow, it is no longer possible to save them. The tree will not be able to get rid of the dead parts on its own, so the gardener should take pruning shears and perform the trimming.
Do not forget to use garden varnish to treat the cuts.
The same should be done with all dry parts of the thuja.
Hygienic Pruning of the Top
It is important to carry out hygienic pruning to save the tree. The thuja should be shortened by 15 centimeters.
Again, do not forget about the garden varnish.
Fertilizing with Peat
A key point is enriching the soil with nutrients. First, remove some soil from under the thuja, mix it with acidic peat, and add any complex fertilizer according to the instructions.
This support will help the tree regain its strength more quickly.
If desired, you can also purchase a spray solution to provide additional feeding to the leaves.
