On Friday evening in Riga, rescuers had to retrieve a passenger car with a trailer from the river. The car was submerged about six meters from the shore, and no one was injured.
In Riga, employees of the State Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) conducted a nighttime operation to extract a passenger car with a trailer from the river.
The call to Lielupes Street came shortly before 10:00 PM. Rescuers arriving at the scene found that the car with the trailer was completely submerged about six meters from the shore.
A cable was used for the operation. With its help, the car along with the trailer was successfully pulled ashore.
The work lasted several hours and was completed shortly after midnight.
According to the SFRS, no one was injured as a result of the incident. The reasons for the car ending up in the river have not been specified.
Over the past 24 hours, the State Fire and Rescue Service received 53 calls. Of these, 12 were related to fires, 29 to rescue operations, and another 12 were false alarms.
