An elderly woman died as a result of a traffic accident in Talsi. She was hit by a car whose driver was reversing out of a driveway.
According to the State Police, the accident occurred on Thursday, October 1, shortly after 9:00 AM on Draudzibas Street.
Preliminary information indicates that the driver of a Volvo, while reversing out of a parking area, struck a woman born in 1944.
The injured woman was taken to a medical facility; however, her injuries were too severe — later, the woman passed away.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
In total, 124 traffic accidents were registered in Latvia over the past 24 hours. One person died in the accidents, and another ten were injured. Among the injured were three cyclists.
