In the prosecutor's office, a case of the rape of a 12-year-old girl, as a result of which she became pregnant 0 93

On February 11, the police received information that a girl born in 2013 had been admitted to one of the medical institutions in Vidzeme, where pregnancy was confirmed. In connection with this fact, the State Police initiated a criminal process and on February 14 detained a man born in 2003, to whom the court applied pre-trial detention as a measure of restraint.

During the investigation, it was established that the man, taking advantage of the girl's helpless state, had sexual intercourse with her, resulting in her pregnancy.

Also, within the framework of the criminal process, circumstances were established that provide grounds for assessing the possible responsibility of another person who knew about the crime but did not report it. Suspected of this crime, the police detained a woman born in 1994 on February 20. Pre-trial detention was also applied to her as a measure of restraint.

The criminal process is classified under part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Law - for rape, if it led to serious consequences, or for the rape of a person under the age of 16, as well as under Article 315 of the Criminal Law - failure to report a crime.

The Bureau of Criminal Police of the Vidzeme Regional Department of the State Police completed the investigation of the criminal process and on September 21 transferred it to the Vidzeme District Prosecutor's Office to initiate criminal prosecution.

As previously reported by Latvian Television, doctors discovered that the girl had been subjected to sexual violence and was expecting a child while providing her with assistance. At the time of the pregnancy's discovery, it had already been at least halfway through, and the girl's family was either unaware of it or concealed it.
