As a result of the cyberattack on the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD), personal data of 1.2 million people was obtained, the deputy head of the institution for preventing cyber incidents "Cert.lv" Varis Teivans reported to journalists today.
The data was obtained from payments made by the directorate over the past 18 years.
Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs did not rule out in a conversation with journalists that this could have been a cyberattack on Latvia carried out by another state. However, this is merely speculation, as the specific perpetrator is unknown.
As reported, in August, the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD) was subjected to a comprehensive cyberattack, during which the perpetrators partially gained access to the directorate's IT system and obtained historical payment receipt data for CSDD services.
The information obtained by the perpetrators also contained personal data, including personal code or registration number, first name, last name or company name, payment, payment date, vehicle registration number, and address.
