One of the participants in the collision sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, but he could not be saved, reports the show Degpunktā (TV3).

A friend of the deceased stated that the man suffered severe injuries.

“He had broken ribs and, most likely, damaged internal organs. Of course, alcohol was consumed. They drive those jet skis just terribly. If the victim had been carefully brought to shore, he might still be alive, but the others were dragging him onto the jet ski, and that could also have contributed to such consequences.”

This is the opinion of a friend of the deceased; there is no official confirmation of this version of the cause of death.

According to the informant, the jet skis were rented from the company Usmas Meķi. Journalists contacted representatives of the firm, but they refused to comment on the incident until the investigation is completed.

Jet ski specialist Kristaps Krastiņš reminded that a relevant license is required to operate a jet ski.

“By law, having a driver's license is mandatory. You need to contact CSDD and take exams.”

Such a license can be obtained from the age of 14. Additionally, the jet ski must be registered with CSDD, and operating it is prohibited with a blood alcohol content exceeding 0.5 permille.

Experts also remind the necessity of using a life jacket, which can save lives in case of an accident.

Particular caution should be exercised near official swimming areas where boaters, paddleboarders, and vacationers may be present. In such places, motorboat owners are prohibited from exceeding the established speed and creating danger for others.

“One chooses a healthy lifestyle, while the other does not have time for it. But we need to respect each other. Otherwise, it destroys the entire culture of behavior,” noted Kristaps Krastiņš.
