В аэропорту Лейпцига обнаружили беспилотник с взрывчаткой

A drone with explosives and a detonator was discovered at Leipzig Airport near a Ukrainian cargo plane. German authorities do not rule out that the incident may be linked to sabotage.

A drone equipped with explosives and a detonator was discovered at the German airport in Leipzig. According to German media citing sources in security services, the drone was spotted near a Ukrainian cargo plane on the evening of August 4, as reported by NOS.

Leipzig/Halle Airport is one of the key logistics hubs facilitating air traffic with Ukraine.

After the dangerous find, specialists neutralized the device: the detonator was removed, and the explosives were placed in a special container for further examination. According to the newspaper Bild, the explosives were made from a mixture of fertilizers and gasoline, but the detonator was found to be faulty.

Due to the incident, airport operations were temporarily suspended, and some flights were redirected to other airports.

That same night, another incident occurred. A DHL cargo plane was forced to abort its landing and, during a go-around, collided in mid-air with an unknown object approximately six kilometers from the airport at an altitude of about 400 meters. The plane sustained minor damage to its nose.

Investigators are checking whether the unknown object could also have been a drone. According to Bild, the airport's security system recorded two drones.

Air traffic at Leipzig Airport has already been restored, but the investigation into both incidents is ongoing. Special attention is being paid to establishing the origin of the discovered drones and any possible connection between the two incidents.
