A fatal accident involving a cyclist occurred in the Saulkrasti region in the evening. The man went off the road into the Peterupe River and died. The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday evening in the Saulkrasti municipality.
According to the State Police, around 5:30 PM in the area of Prieždes on Rojas Boulevard, a cyclist went off the road for an undetermined reason and ended up in the Peterupe River.
The injuries sustained were fatal. The man died at the scene.
The State Police are currently investigating the causes and circumstances of the incident.
In the last 24 hours, 130 traffic accidents have been registered on the roads of Latvia. In addition to this fatal case, seven other individuals were injured in accidents.
Furthermore, the police issued 360 administrative decisions for traffic violations, including 123 for speeding and four for aggressive driving.
Additionally, four criminal cases have been initiated for operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol.
The investigation into the circumstances of the cyclist's death is ongoing.
