Soft fabric seats in Riga's buses wear out too quickly. More precisely, they are damaged by local vandals.
The capital's public transport company Rīgas satiksme has found an alternative to fabric upholstery for seats – the chairs are covered with polyurethane. However, during the experiment, Riga residents complained about the hardness. But the public transport company cannot be stopped anymore.
Customer comfort takes a back seat when Rīgas satiksme sees direct profit. Seats with polyurethane coating are easy to clean; they do not absorb liquids; they are more hygienic and resistant to vandalism.
The first hard seats will appear on buses with the registration numbers 77588 and 77631. Have a soft landing!
Maršrutos kursē divi izmēģinājuma autobusi ar jauna parauga sēdekļiem. 🧐Turpinot meklēt alternatīvas auduma sēdekļu apdarei, izmēģinām jaunu risinājumu, kas nākotnē varētu tikt izmantots autobusos, kuri papildinās mūsu transportlīdzekļu parku. Vēlamies atrast sēdekļus, kas būtu… pic.twitter.com/umdKeOi4cs
