Housing prices in Latvia in the fourth quarter of last year compared to the same period a year earlier increased by 11%, demonstrating a faster growth than the average in the European Union (EU) and the eurozone, according to the latest data from the EU statistical office "Eurostat" on 26 countries in the bloc.

A more rapid year-on-year increase in housing prices was recorded in Hungary (+21.2%), Portugal (+18.9%), Croatia (+16.1%), Spain (+12.9%), Slovakia (+12.8%), and Bulgaria (+12.6%). In Lithuania, housing prices increased by 10.8%, while in Estonia, they rose by 5.5%. Meanwhile, a decrease in housing prices in the fourth quarter year-on-year was observed only in Finland, where they fell by 3.1%. In EU countries, on average, housing prices increased by 5.5% year-on-year in October-December, while in the eurozone, they rose by 5.1%.
