Eurostat: In Latvia, housing prices are rising faster than in the EU

Housing prices in Latvia in the fourth quarter of last year compared to the same period a year earlier increased by 11%, demonstrating a faster growth than the average in the European Union (EU) and the eurozone, according to the latest data from the EU statistical office "Eurostat" on 26 countries in the bloc.

"Eurostat": In Latvia, the growth of housing prices in the fourth quarter was more rapid than the average in the EU and the eurozone. Riga, April 7, LETA. A more rapid year-on-year increase in housing prices was recorded in Hungary (+21.2%), Portugal (+18.9%), Croatia (+16.1%), Spain (+12.9%), Slovakia (+12.8%), and Bulgaria (+12.6%). In Lithuania, housing prices increased by 10.8%, while in Estonia, they rose by 5.5%. Meanwhile, a decrease in housing prices in the fourth quarter year-on-year was observed only in Finland, where they fell by 3.1%. In EU countries, on average, housing prices increased by 5.5% year-on-year in October-December, while in the eurozone, they rose by 5.1%.
