Funding from the European Union (EU) for 'green' businesses will be prioritized for projects in the Saulkrasti, Limbazi, Ogre, and Tukums regions, according to information on the legal acts portal.
Amendments to the Cabinet of Ministers' rules on supporting 'green' entrepreneurship, the use of renewable energy resources, and increasing energy efficiency stipulate that project applications planned for implementation in these regions will receive support on a priority basis. The total funding for the program amounts to €7.81 million.
As explained by the Ministry of Economics, the changes are necessary to ensure more balanced regional development and to expand opportunities for businesses in less developed areas. Previously, projects under this program were mainly implemented in Riga and the capital region.
The selection of project applications for the program will begin after the amendments come into force.
