These projects have caused "extreme concern" among businesses.

More than 1,600 companies have signed a statement criticizing the energy policy of the federal government of Germany. They warn that the current policy could significantly slow down the development of renewable energy sources.

The focus is on the plan to modernize the power grid and the heating law. The Green Party, which published the statement, stated that it is not responsible for its text. It was drafted by the participating companies themselves.

"With the projects presented under the power grid package or the main provisions of the building modernization law, the government is losing sight of the goals and opportunities of the energy transition," the statement published on the Green Party's website reads.

Germany's Ministry of Economy, led by Katharina Reiche, intends to present a "network measures package." The published draft law, in particular, provides for worsening conditions for new solar installations by private individuals.

The building modernization law is set to replace the heating law adopted by the coalition government and, among other things, allow the installation of new heating systems using liquid and gas fuels for a longer period of time.

According to the statement, these projects have caused "extreme concern" among businesses.

Regarding the network package, they write that there is indeed a problem in the development of power grids.

"Existing network overloads and the further development of renewable energy sources need to be better synchronized."

They believe that the emphasis should be on digitalization and increasing flexibility.

"The proposals published by the Federal Ministry of Economy, on the contrary, could significantly slow down the development of renewable energy sources."

These businesses regret that only general provisions of the new law have been presented so far. Existing regulations will be replaced "primarily by uncertainty and legal ambiguity."

Regarding the repeal of the heating law, they criticize primarily that the current plans of municipalities within thermal planning will be "devalued" and that "the craft, construction, and energy sectors face massive order losses."

Among the companies that have signed the appeal so far, small businesses in the energy sector predominate. However, architectural firms and consulting companies have also signed the appeal. The list also includes many companies that at first glance have no relation to this field, such as medical offices, advertising agencies, or travel companies.
