Overall, this year has been "very sluggish" for the automotive market.

According to the results of the first eleven months of 2025, total sales of Lada cars in Russia decreased by 27 percent compared to the same period in 2024. The sharp decline in the sales of these cars in the country was reported by Interfax, citing a presentation by the head of the AvtoVAZ group, Maxim Sokolov.

During the reporting period, a total of 304,841 cars of the Russian brand were sold in the domestic market. As previously clarified by the head of the analytical agency Autostat, Sergey Tselikov, the share of the Russian brand during this time fell to 21 percent.

Against the backdrop of the sharp decline in sales, the management of the group had to significantly lower the production plan for 2025. Initially, it was planned to produce 500,000 Lada cars over 12 months, but now the company expects a figure of about 300,000 units, plus or minus 10 percent, Sokolov explained.

Overall, this year has been "very sluggish" for the Russian automotive market, he lamented. Analysts noted that a number of factors contributed to the decline in sales, including regular increases in the recycling fee, the tight monetary policy of the Central Bank, reduced availability of auto loans, and the overall increase in car prices in the country. A quick recovery of the automotive market in the current realities is not expected, noted Andrey Terlyukevich, head of the AutoSpecCenter group of companies. Any slight revival, the expert explains, if it occurs, will not happen until spring next year.
