State Joint Stock Company "Latvijas pasts" has resumed the delivery of all types of letters to the USA, the company reported to LETA.
At the same time, the sending of parcels and packages to the USA is still suspended.
"Latvijas pasts" has restored the sending of all types of postal items to the USA and its territories, including American Samoa, Guam, Hawaii, the Small Pacific Islands, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Palau, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
Thus, customers of "Latvijas pasts" can send regular, registered, and tracked letters with documents.
The company is gradually restoring the delivery process, and the first step was the sending of letters with documents to the USA.
In addition, in collaboration with the International Postal Corporation, a solution is currently being developed that will soon allow for the delivery of packages and parcels to the USA. At the same time, work is underway with a partner authorized to administer US taxes on all incoming postal items.
The company explains that the duty-free regime suspended by US President Donald Trump has affected the activities of postal operators in Europe, including Latvia Post. The customs policy of the USA is related to the fulfillment of new requirements regarding commercial shipments and the correct exchange of customs data confirming that duties on shipments have been paid.
The turnover of "Latvijas pasts" last year amounted to 93.743 million euros, which is 13.4% less than in 2023. In addition, the company incurred losses of 111,203 euros compared to the profit of the previous year.
"Latvijas pasts" ensures the availability of postal services throughout Latvia. The company carries out domestic and international deliveries — from e-commerce and parcels to press, written correspondence, and personalized logistics solutions. "Latvijas pasts" is a fully state-owned enterprise, employing about 1,800 people.
